Industrial Mechano-System Research Core

My name is Michael De Volder. I am a professor at the University of Cambridge and joined the Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST) group as a visitor on the 1st of October 2023 under a WRH specially appointed Professor program. The main focus of my research is on the development of new Li-Ion batteries. I am involved in projects to better understand how to manufacture battery electrodes as well as to understand the degradation processes taking place in batteries to extend their life time. A second research theme in my lab is focusing on the rational design of devices using nanomaterials and their integration into MEMS devices.
