As part of the activities of the center, the Young Scientists Dojo Program "Understanding and Practice of Ultrasonic Measurement Principles and Devices" was held at the Tokyo Institute of Technology's Research Institute for Future Industry, aiming to foster young researchers in the interdisciplinary field of biomedical engineering and dental engineering. Led by Professor Kentaro Nakamura, the two-day program from Thursday, March 23 to Friday, March 24 included lectures via Zoom and hands-on practice in a face-to-face format, while taking sufficient precautions against infection by the new coronavirus.
The first day of the program was held via Zoom, and a total of 6 participants (4 graduate students, 1 undergraduate student, and 1 researcher) from Nagoya University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Shinshu University, and Tokyo Institute of Technology attended. The practical training included ultrasonic thickness measurement, ultrasonic imaging experiments, evaluation of ultrasonic transducers for power, and development experiments using powered ultrasonic waves. We believe that this was a valuable experience that was closer to practical application.
We will continue our efforts to nurture the young generation who will pioneer the field of biomedical and dental engineering.
