Technology Assistance and Visiting Researcher Program

FIRST engourages any research activity which crosses over various research fields, not only in the field of science and engineering, but also in humanity fields such as industrial socology, ecomonics, and jurisprudence. With such wide and diversified perspectives, FIRST aims "to unfold science technology research that generates innovative industrial technologies in order to contribute to affluent society in the future" and provides technical assistances for industrial world as follows.

a) Academic Consultation

Under this program, our faculty member(s) is commissioned by a company to carry out academic consultation as a part of his job at the university.

b) Technology Assistance as a Sideline

It is possible to provide specific technology assistance to solve the problems the company may have based on the knowledge, know-how and experience held by the faculties of Tokyo Tech.

c) Visiting Researcher Program

To carry out collaborative research with a company or its own research , Tokyo Tech can accept a company researcher as a visiting researcher at the university.

d) Graduate Program for Working Adults

The Graduate Program for Working Adults targets individuals with critical thinking skills who play an active role in the workforce.
This program, designed to meet the needs of both working adults and their employers, allows students to pursue a doctoral degree while working. Under the system of industry-academia collaboration, working adult students conduct research by utilizing their specialized knowledge and experience gained in their careers.
